Broadway Cares Audra McDonald, Victoria Clark, Cole Escola, More Join 27th Annual Broadway Barks

Tony winners Bernadette Peters and Beth Leavel will host the pet adoption event in Shubert Alley.

Additional celebrity participants have been announced for the 27th annual Broadway Barks, set for July 12 in Shubert Alley.

The star-studded dog and cat adoption event, co-founded by Bernadette Peters and the late Mary Tyler Moore, features adoptable animals from NYC-area adoption agencies and rescue groups introduced by Broadway favorites. As previously reported, Tony winners Peters and Beth Leavel, who just ended an extended engagement in the Broadway premiere of Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends, will co-host.

Produced by Broadway Cares, the adoption event kicks off at 3 PM with a meet and greet of all the adoptable pets, followed by the celebrity presentations at 5 PM.

The afternoon will feature adoptable animals from 1 Love 4 Animals, Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniels Rescue Adopt A Boxer Rescue, Animal Care Centers of NYC, Anjellicle Cats Rescue, Badass Animal Rescue, Best Friends Animal Society, Bideawee, Bobbi and the Strays, Catstoria Cat Rescue, City Critters, Francis’s Friends, Give Me Shelter, Hearts and Bones Rescue, Husky House, Linda’s Cat Assistance, Little Shelter, Long Island Bulldog Rescue, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, North Shore Animal League, Pet ResQ Inc., Remember Me Rescue, SaveKitty Foundation, SPCA of Westchester, and Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue.

Over the past 26 years, more than 2,500 dogs and cats have grabbed Broadway’s spotlight with approximately 85% finding forever homes. The annual event is free and open to the public. Proceeds benefit the participating shelters and rescue groups.
